FANS have taken to social media after former Man Utd manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer emerged as a contender for vacant Ireland manager’s role.
The ex-United boss has seen his odds slashed down to 3/10 today as Betfair name him the hunt’s leading candidate.

Solskjaer has been out of the job since his time at Man United came to an end in November 2021.
The Norwegian was never seen as a frontrunner for the Ireland role until today.
FAI director of football Marc Canham revealed in February that a new appointment would be named in early April once contractual obligations were fulfilled.
There have been a huge amount of names linked with the job such as Lee Carsley,Roy Keane and Anthony Barry but nothing has materialised in recent months.
Now, the 1999 treble winner has become a huge odd on favourite to take the reigns.
And fans have been left shocked with the reports as the former Red Devil is linked with the job.
Taking to social media, most fans were left excited at reports as they posted on x.
One said: “Definitely wasn’t expecting this.”
Another wrote: “That would be incredible.”
A third penned: “Brilliant appointment if true.”
While a fourth posted: “Any day. Roy Keane as assistant and happy days.”
The FAI have not commented on the managerial search in the past fortnight when, following the board’s March meeting, they reaffirmed there would be an announcement this month.
Canham had said it would be ‘early April’, but FAI sources indicate no board meeting has been called — which must happen before a new appointment.
