OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has fired a warning shot at David De Gea after the goalie’s blunders cost Manchester United a place in the FA Cup final.

De Gea was at fault for two of Chelsea’s goals as United crumbled in a 3-1 semi-final defeat at Wembley on Sunday evening.

The Spaniard failed to keep out Olivier Giroud’s opener just before half-time, with the ball trickling over the line at a snail’s pace.

De Gea then produced a weak-palmed save to turn Mason Mount’s effort in moments into the second 45.

Harry Maguire’s own goal condemned United to defeat against a motivated Chelsea side.

And Solskjaer insists De Gea should have saved Mount’s long-distance shot “100 out of 100 times.”

Ole said: “Obviously, everyone has to perform.

“Everyone has a chance every time we perform to stake a claim in the team.

“David knows he should have saved the second goal, that’s done now and we have to look forward to Wednesday.

“It’s hard for a keeper to make amends, apart from David making two or three fantastic saves after.

“You always question your decisions.”

“I can’t speak for his confidence but he is mentally very strong.

“He knows he should save that one 100 times out of 100 but that’s football for you.

“I made the decision to play him and mentally he was ready for it.”

Reflecting on how the game went, Solskjaer added: “Coming in at half time with the goal after that long lay off was a big blow for us.

“We lost concentration and that was disappointing.

“Chelsea had an extra 48 hours, that’s just a fact but it’s no excuse, I can’t use excuses.

Solskjaer has given an update on Eric Bailly’s head injury[/caption]

“It is what it is, we would rather have the semi to play than not, I won’t make a fuss out of that.

“You know Olivier Giroud’s movement, you know he goes to the near post and we should defend that better.

“We are a little too late in those situations and the second was very avoidable.”

Solskjaer also gave an update on Eric Bailly after the defender was stretchered off in a neck brace.

He said: “Bailly is hopefully fine, he had a cut on his head but hopefully he will be fine.

“There is no time to feel sorry for ourselves, we have two games this week and then the Europa League.

“We will get our heads ready and our legs ready and go again.”
